How to Find UGC Creators Who Actually Fit Your Brand (2026)
A step-by-step way to find UGC creators on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube whose audience buys your product, check them in minutes and reach out with a brief.

Most brands find UGC creators the wrong way round. They search for their product category, find someone with one viral video about it and book them. Two weeks later the video gets a fraction of the views and nobody buys.
The fix is simple: look for creators whose regular content reaches your buyers, not creators who once posted about your product.
1. Start from your buyers, not your category
Write down who buys and what they watch when they are not shopping. A packing list app does not sell through "app review" creators. It sells through travel creators: family travel, budget travel, carry-on tips. A protein powder sells through gym, meal prep and running creators.
These audience niches are where you search. Your product category is only one of them.
2. Search the niche, not the hashtag of the moment
On TikTok, search 3 to 5 phrases a viewer in that niche would type ("carry on packing", "family travel tips"). Sort by what is working now, not by all-time views. Note every creator who appears more than once.
On Instagram, use the same phrases plus 2 or 3 niche hashtags. On YouTube, search Shorts with the same phrases.
3. Check the last 10 to 20 videos
This is the step most people skip, and the one that matters most. Open each creator and ask:
- How many of the recent videos are about the niche? Aim for at least 4 in 10. A creator who posts the niche again and again has an audience that comes back for it.
- What are the median views? Ignore the one viral hit. The median tells you what a normal video does.
- Is it a person or a brand page? Brand and media accounts rarely make UGC for others.
- Can they hold attention in the first 2 seconds? Watch three openings. That is what you are paying for.
4. Size matters less than fit
For pure UGC (videos you post on your own channels and ads) follower count barely matters. You pay for the video, not the reach. For posts on the creator's own account, 10K to 100K followers with strong median views often beats one big account at the same budget.
5. Reach out with a short, specific brief
Creators get many vague DMs. Stand out with three lines: what you want (1 video, 20 to 40 seconds), the hook idea from their niche, your budget and usage rights. Attach a brief when they reply.
